and gourmet chocolatier KATE SHAFFER for a Maine Island food and fun-filled getaway, 2 nights and 3 days!

Gourmet Cooking, Seafood Meals and Artisanal Chocolate Making

Begin your culinary adventure on the evening of your arrival with a delicious dinner prepared for you by Diana in the Inn's kitchen.

The next morning, join Diana for a 2-hour class preparing bread, a side dish and dessert for the evening meal. At noontime we take a break, relax and enjoy the packed lunch provided. After lunch, time to go for a stroll, take out one of the Inn bikes or just lounge in a lawn chair and soak up the surf sound.

At 4 pm, it's time to pack our supplies into the "Griswald" and head over to Linda Greenlaw’s for a gourmet cooking session. Together we will prepare appetizers and salad while Linda schools you in the art of grilling — what else? — fresh fish! We will all gather to dine on the fruits of our labor and enjoy what's sure to be lively conversation.

After breakfast the following morning, you will take your packed lunch over to Black Dinah Chocolatiers, where Kate Shaffer will give a hands-on 2-hour demonstration of artisanal chocolate making. You will learn about “ganache”, “couverture” and the origin of the elusive “East Side Pink Flamingo.” Kate will return you to the Inn, in time to catch the 4:30 pm mailboat back to the mainland.

And special souvenirs, too. Each person will receive a copy of the Inn at Isle au Haut Cookbook, an Isle au Haut apron presented by Linda Greenlaw, their own loaf of homemade bread and handmade truffles from Black Dinah Chocolatiers.

 

 

GETAWAY DETAILS

This package is limited to 4 people.

This package will be offered on three sets of dates: Saturday June 5 & Sunday June 6, 2010
Tuesday June 8 & Wednesday June 9, 2010
Saturday June 12 & Sunday June 13, 2010

  • Arrival on Saturday June 5, departing Stonington at 3:30 pm. Depart Inn on Monday June 7 at 4:00 pm.

  • OR

  • Arrival on Tuesday June 8, departing Stonington at 3:30 pm. Depart Inn on Thursday June 10 at 4:00 pm.

  • OR

  • Arrival on Saturday June 12, departing Stonington at 3:30 pm. Depart Inn on Monday June 14 at 4:30 pm.


The package price for the Fo'c'sle and the Bosun's Quarters is $1200.00 per couple – these rooms are on the second floor and share a bath.

The package price for the Captain's Quarters – on the ground floor with a private bath – is $1300.00 for a couple.

Package prices include 2 night's lodging, all meals, tax and instruction.

Mailboat fare is $17.00 per person each way. Secure parking at the boat company dock is available for $9.00 per day.
